PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer in which variation of manufacture has minimum effect on the print quality and no adjustment is required during manufacture. SOLUTION: A heating resistor 1c is formed at a position shifted by a distance Y upstream in the carrying direction of recording sheet from the top position of a partial glaze and positional relation between a thermal head 1 and a platen is shifted by a distance X downstream in the carrying direction of recording sheet. A region exhibiting good print quality against variation can be widened by setting a following relationship, X : Y = radius of platen roller 2 : radius of curvature of partial glaze.
