PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To purify exhaust gas and to improve output and fuel consumption by improving a scavenging cycle in a two-cycle internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In this two-cycle internal combustion engine changing reciprocating motion of a piston 4 disposed inside a cylinder 2 into rotary motion of a crankshaft 8, a crankcase is installed with a scavenging pump 16. The scavenging pump 16 has a pump cylinder 16B, a pump piston 16C, a cam 18a installed to the crankshaft 8, and a cam follower 16Da' engaging with the cam 18a and installed to the pump piston 16C. A discharge port 16G of the pump cylinder 16B and an intake port 22 of the cylinder 2 are connected, the intake port 22 and an exhaust port 24 are positioned such that a state that the exhaust port 24 is blocked off by the piston 4 and the intake port 22 is not perfectly blocked off exists, and fuel is injected into the cylinder 2 from a nozzle 12.
