PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish the covering of roll cores that is improved in a plural ity of properties, for example, strength or the like in comparison with conven tional roll core coating made of a thermosetting resin or the like, particularly permits the production of rolls coated with a thermosetting resin. SOLUTION: In a method and an apparatus for producing coated rolls having the a low-viscosity thermosetting resin-impregnated reinforcing fiber mat lower layer and a smooth, high-temperature and high-performance polymer outer layer, the mat (332) is constituted with a plurality of layers and individual layers have the front edge parts that come into contact with the rear edge, when they are rolled around the roll core (320), and individual following layers are stuck to the preceding layers along the seam, while the seam makes an angle to each other at a certain interval so that they may cause no irregularity on the surface of the roll core. |
