PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate reflection by a water drop so as to prevent malfunction by detecting a user on a toilet seat, and applying a dew condensation preventing treatment to a light transmission body of a sensor of a sanitary washing device that is set in an un-operation state during non-usage. SOLUTION: A sensor is fixed to the rear wall of a casing 14 of a sitting sensor unit 25 in a sanitary washing device 10. The sensor comprises a light emitting element and a light receiving element, and a light transmission body is mounted to an opening of the casing 14 of the sitting sensor unit 25. When a user sits on a toilet seat 16, light from the light emitting element passes through the light transmission body, reflects on the user, and passes again through the light transmission body to the light receiving element. Then, a control device makes a washing mechanism into an operable state. During non-usage of the toilet seat, it does not detect the reflected light and is in an un-operable state. When dew condensation occurs on the light emitting element, the light from the light emitting element is reflected on the dew condensation, is received, and becomes into the operable state even during the non-usage. A water repellent layer is provided on the light transmission body to prevent the dew condensation to prevent failure.
