PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality aramid film suitable for a base film of a magnetic recording medium, etc. SOLUTION: An aramid film having an average thickness of from 2 to 10 μm has from 2 to 200 pinholes of 5 μm or larger but smaller than 50 μm, from 0 to 10 pinholes of from 50 to 200 μm and from 0 to 5 pinholes of larger than 200 μm per 1,000 m2. Furthermore, on at least one surface, the aramid film randomly has swellings wherein the height (H) is from 0.03 to 0.4 μm, the main pitch (L) is from 100 to 2,000 μm and the ratio of L to H is 500<=L/H<=15,000. The aramid film has a specific pinhole size distribution and therefore provides a high-quality film which shows an excellent handleability at film processing and is useful as a base film, etc., of a magnetic recording medium, etc. |
