PAPER COATING COMPOSITION, AND CLEAR COATED PAPER AND PIGMENT-COATED PAPER BOTH APPLIED WITH THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a paper coating composition capable of improving the brightness of paper by formulating both a fluorescent dye and polyacrylamides or by formulating a fluorescent dye, an ammonium compound and a polymeric substance selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohols and starches. SOLUTION: This paper coating composition is obtained by formulating a diaminostilbene-type fluorescent dye with at least one kind of ammonium compounds selected from the group consisting of ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride and ammonium acetate and at least one kind of polymeric substances selected from the group consisting of anionic polyacrylamides where anionic groups are introduced by hydrolysis, polyvinyl alcohols and starches. Clear coat paper is obtained by coating paper with the above composition. Pigment coat paper is obtained by adding pigment to the above composition and then coating paper with the mixture.
