PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure an affinity for a living body and biocompatibility by using a coated body obtained by coating a metallic substrate containing titanium with a calcium phosphate-based glass layer while interposing an intermediate layer containing titanium oxide. SOLUTION: In this glass-coated body, the concentration of the titanium oxide in the intermediate layer is made lower as it goes from the substrate side to the glass layer side. The glass layer is obtained preferably by heat- treating a glass material containing Cab, P2O5, TiO2 and Na2O and the total of these four components is >=90 mol% of the all components of the glass layer. It is preferable that the molar ratio of CaO/P2O5 is >=1.25 and the total number of moles of P2O5, TiO2 and Na2O is >=50% that of CaO, P2O5, TiO2 and Na2O. As a result, the calcium phosphate-based glass layer is satisfactorily integrated with the Ti-containing metallic substrate. This glass-coated body is used as a material for an artificial tooth root or an artificial bone. |
