PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a kerfing process accuracy beyond a conventional accuracy level with regard to the process to form a kerf along the core of a pillar so that cracks due to drying are prevented from occurring, when a cedar tree is used as an alcove post after its surface bark is neatly peeled. SOLUTION: When a pillar 1 is to be fabricated by kerfing, the pillar 1 is placed on a metal square pipe 2a by fitting the core 1c of the pillar 1 to the ridge line 6a of a metal square pipe 2a attached to a spot right under the pillar 1 with its face to be processed turned upward. Next, the heights between the lower end parts of rulers 8 attached, adjusted to the core 1c of the tip part 1a of the pillar 1 and the core 1c of a base part 1b, and the ridge line 6a of the square pipe 2a, are made to correctly coincide with each other with the help of the ruler 8. Further, after fitting the edge of a circular saw 4 to the core 1c, the circular saw 4 is manually moved in the cutting direction of the ridge line 6a of the same square pipe 2a and at the same time, the ideal kerfing process which certainly matches the core 1c of the pillar 1 is carried out.
