PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the insertability of an endscope into the coelom by further reducing the diameter of the distal end of the endscope while preventing a field of view from being blocked by a washing nozzle. SOLUTION: This endscope has an observing lens 32 and a washing nozzle 33 at an approximately columnar end thereof. An outer peripheral portion of the endscope distal end is provided with a deformed part 46 projecting outwardly from the diameter of the circle of other outer peripheral portion while located in the vicinity of a line interconnecting the observing lens 32 and the washing nozzle 33. A diagonal interconnecting the observing lens 32 and the washing nozzle 33 constitutes the maximum diameter of the endscope end, while a portion in which other built-in members are disposed constitutes a circle with a diameter smaller than the diameter of the deformed part 46.
