PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly detect an increase in vehicular friction, and to prevent a fault of a vehicle, by detecting a deceleration when reducing the speed of the vehicle, comparing the deceleration with a reference value, and determining the change of the friction on the bases of the compared result. SOLUTION: This vehicular friction detecting device is provided with an air flow meter 4, a crank angle sensor 5, an accelerator opening sensor 6, and a vehicular speed sensor 7, and fuel cut control at deceleration is executed in a specified decelerating vehicular speed range by an engine controller 3, when detecting a decelerating state where the vehicular speed exceeds a prescribed value, and the accelerator opening becomes zero. In a friction determining device 10, when an deceleration increase more than prescribed is determined by a friction determining 13 which inputs a compared result between a deceleration detected by a in a deceleration detecting part 11 and a reference value, in a deceleration comparing part 12, a warning device 15 is actuated to warn a driver of the increase in friction. At that time, the deceleration is corrected by a deceleration correcting part 14 according to an outer environmental condition.
