TITANIUM OXIDE COATING LIQUID AND FORMATION OF TITANIUM OXIDE COATING FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable titanium oxide coating liquid causing no corrosion of substrate, and to provide a method for forming titanium oxide coating films from the above coating liquid. SOLUTION: This coating liquid with pH 5-10 is obtained by incorporating water with 100-200 pts.wt. of titanic acid and/or titanium dioxide, 1-100 pts.wt. of a basic organic compound and 1-50 pts.wt. of an anion dispersant. The other objective method for forming a titanium oxide coating film comprises the following process: a substrate is coated with the above coating liquid followed by drying to afford a coating film, which, in turn, is subjected to heat treatment at >=200 deg.C and/or irradiation treatment with ultraviolet rays <400 nm in wavelength to decompose and remove the basic organic compound in the coating film to form the objective titanium oxide coating film with high photocatalytic activity.
