PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating garbage, a method for treating garbage and a stirring instrument which are capable of enhancing the efficiency of degradation of the garbage. SOLUTION: A stirring instrument 12 of the apparatus 10 for treating garbage comprises a rotary shaft 18 which is rotatively driven by a motor 16, supporting shafts 20 (20a-20f) and 22 extending toward the periphery of the rotary shaft 18 from the rotary shaft 18, paddles 24 (24a-24f) and 26 (26a-26f) which are supported by the supporting shafts 20 and stir the garbage, and paddles 30 which are supported by the supporting shafts 22 and stir the garbage. At least the rotary blades 32 (32a-32f) which are directed to the direction of rotation of the stirring instrument 12 are fixed on the paddles 24.
