PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing tool and a fixing method capable of easily and quickly fixing the back plate of box furniture. SOLUTION: The end part of the back plate 22 is loosely fitted to the groove hole 21a of a side plate 21, the wedge part 12 of this fixing tool 10 is inserted to a clearance between the end part of the back plate 22 and the groove hole 21a, the tapered surface 11a of the fixing tool 10 is hit with a tool such as a hammer and the wedge part 12 is driven into the groove hole 21a. Then, a pawl 13 is gnawed into the back plate 21 and the back plate 22 is fixed to the side plate 21 by the fixing tool 10.
