PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber material capable of increasing the amount of negative ions generated with tourmaline and stably generating the negative ions. SOLUTION: This treating agent for processing a negative ion-generating fiber material consists of fine particles of tourmaline having 0.1-40μm average particle size, a fluorine-based polymer and an acrylic resin and/or urethane-based resin in 0.1-10:0.1-50:0.1-50 weight ratio, respectively. This production of the negative ion-generating fiber material is to treat the fiber material with an aqueous treating solution containing 0.1-10 g/l of fine particles of tourmaline having 0.1-40μm average particle size, 0.1-50 g/l of a fluorine-containing polymer and 0.1-50 g/l of the acrylic resin and/or urethane-based resin. This negative ion-generating fiber material is provided by adhering the tourmaline fine particles having 0.1-40μm particle size, the fluorine-based polymer and the acrylic resin and/or the urethane resin in the weight ratio of 0.1-10:0.1-50:0.1-50, respectively.
