A method and apparatus is provided for storing and displaying symbols. The method includes: retrieving a first bitmap, where the first bitmap contains information regarding a first part of the image pattern of the symbol for display of the first part of the image pattern of the symbol; displaying the first part of the image pattern of the symbol in a first symbol space; retrieving at least a second bitmap, where the second bitmap contains information regarding a second part of the image pattern of the symbol for display of the second part of the image pattern of the symbol; and displaying the second part of the image pattern of the symbol in the first symbol space. The present invention also includes a carrier and an apparatus which include program code signals for performing the method of the present invention. |
