A mechanism for delivering items from a vending machine comprises a cassette 100 adapted to be demountable from the vending machine, including a quick release mechanism 107, 108 for connecting to drive means in the vending machine. The vending machine may be for dispensing packages of cutlery or condiments. Preferably the cassette 100 includes a longitudinally extending helical member 103 defining compartments for the articles, and a divider plate 104 which divides the cassette 100. The helical member 103 need only be turned half a revolution to deliver one article. The quick release coupling may be a dog coupling 108, which includes aligning means to ensure easy removal of the cassette 100. The drive means for the cassette may include a geared motor or a stepping motor, and a controller which moves then helical member in half revolution steps. |
