PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system by which the light emission brightness of a display plate illuminated by transmitted light is made almost even without increasing the number of light sources. SOLUTION: A transmissive part and a non-transmissive part are formed in a light transmitt substrate and displays 2 of letters and symbols are formed on the substrate to give a display plate 1, and a printed substrate 3 is opposedly installed on the rear side of the display plate 1. A light source 4 comprising a chip part type LED is mounted on the surface of the printed substrate 3 on the display plate side. A light case 5 is interposed between the display plate 1 and the printed substrate 3. The light case 5 comprises a plane part 6 approximately in parallel to the display plate 1 at a prescribed interval from the display plate 1 between the display plate 1 and the printed substrate 3 and a hole part 8 is so formed at position corresponding to a light source 4 in the printed substrate 3 as to radiate light from the light source 4 to the rear face of the display plate 1. Inclined reflecting faces 9 are formed from the surrounding the hole part 8 toward the light source 4 as to approach the printed substrate 3 side.
