PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a modified hydrocarbon resin, suitable as a tackifier for a hot-melt traffic paint. SOLUTION: A melt modified hydrocarbon resin or a solution containing the modified hydrocarbon resin produced by modifying a hydrocarbon resin obtained by polymerizing an unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon containing- fraction, which has a boiling point in the range of -20-100 deg.C and has, in the total unsaturated components, the content of a 1,3-conjugated diene component in the range of not less than 20 mole %, the content of a terminal mono-olefin component in the range of not more than 30 mole % and the content of a cyclopentadiene component in the range of not more than 5 mole %, is brought into contact with a diatomaceous earth. According to the process, the modified hydrocarbon resin having excellent heat-resistance hue is provided. The hot-melt traffic paint composition containing the modified hydrocarbon resin exhibits excellent flowability and heat-resistant hue. |
