PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vegetable washing apparatus having resolved such problems involved in conventional vegetable washing apparatuses that the main body becomes too elongated when many washing tanks are used, therefore a wide space for its installation is needed, food materials susceptible to damage or disintegration cannot be handled, and furthermore, conventional apparatuses are limited in use only as exclusive machines for specific washing processes. SOLUTION: This vegetable washing apparatus has such a design and scheme that a washing tank body 1 formed in a polygonal or circular box shape is provided with a plurality of washing tanks 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d... circumferentially and adjacently so as to surround the central part of the washing tank body 1, the central part being furnished with a vertically movable rotary device 8 detachably mounted with a plurality of cage-holding members 22 to be loaded with cages 7 for containing many food materials to be washed in a vertically movable manner and also in an intermittently rotatable manner by a necessary angle correspondingly to the number of the washing tanks and their set positions, the cage-holding members 22 are allowed to descend into one of the washing tanks by the aid of the device 8 to conduct a washing treatment of the food materials in the cages 7 loaded on the cage-holding members 22 according to a series of washing processes; subsequently, the cage-holding members 22 are raised and rotated until they come to a point above the next washing tank, the cage- holding members 22 are then allowed to descend into the above next washing tank again to conduct necessary washing processes, and thereafter, similar operations are conducted successively while transferring the cage-holding members 22 to one of the adjacent washing tanks.
