MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which is capable of making the recording density higher than that of the conventional magnetic recording medium of a vapor deposition type and has good electromagnetic conversion characteristics over a frequency band of a wide range. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium includes a base 2 and a magnetic layer 3 which is disposed on the front surface side of this base 2 by depositing >=1 kind of metallic element by evaporation on this side. In such a case, the transmissivity of the magnetic layer 3 at a wavelength 800 nm is 100×e<(-25t)> to 100×e<(-19t)> (%) when the film thickness of the magnetic layer is defined as t (μm). The transmissivity of the magnetic layer 3 at a wavelength 450 nm is 100×e<(-33t)> to 100×e<-36t)> (%).
