The braking control device includes an engine, an accelerator pedal and a brake system, which are mounted in the car; an auto gearbox joined to the engine, and a throttle valve to adjust induction air quantity of the engine. A sensor detects the opening degree of the accelerator pedal in order to output an accelerator opening degree signal. A throttle valve control device electrically controls the opening degree of the throttle valve in response to the accelerator opening degree signal. A throttle opening degree sensor detects the opening degree of the throttle valve in order to output a throttle opening degree signal. A ''throttle open'' failure detection device detects failure with an open throttle of the throttle valve, and a braking condition detection device detects the car braking condition. A speed change pattern change device changes the speed change pattern of the auto gearbox to a low gear side when the failure with open throttle and the braking condition are detected.
