The invention relates to a planar, flexible, multilayer electric heating element (10), in particular, for heating textiles. Said element is characterised in that it has a support material composed of at least two lattice-structure layers (11, 12) of synthetic material, each made in a single piece, whereby heating filaments (13), wires or fibres are at least embedded in certain areas of only one first material layer (11) - the heating filament support layer. The invention also relates to a method for applying an inventive heating element (10) to a textile support layer by ironing. According to said method, the materials of the heating filament support layer (11) and the fixing layer are selected so that they have different melting temperatures. The inventive method guarantees that the fixing layer selectively melts, in order to fuse with the textile support material, whilst the heating filament support material remains substantially unaffected, ensuring that the heating filaments do not run the risk of becoming detached from their embedded position. The invention also relates to specific articles of clothing which are optionally equipped with the inventive heating elements (10), using the inventive method. Finally, the invention also relates to the fundamental principle of heating breathable materials. |
