PURPOSE:To enable a user to intuitionally recognize to which range of set values the respective densities of a test printed image corresponds by displaying the range of the densities to be stepwise changed on a density display means. CONSTITUTION:A test copying mode flag is checked and a test copying mode selection display element 6 is lighted when a test copy mode button 5 is pushed. Next, the initial values of divided values are read. The time T for one division which is set as the divided value from the initial value is determined by a calculation of (paper size) divided by (divided value) divided by (process speed) and the number S of steps before and after the density selected to be displayed on a density display section 4 is determined by a calculation of ((divided value)-1) divided by 2. Next, the display element for the S step-component before and after the density selected in the density display section 4 is lighted. The divided value is set by increasing and decreasing the value by density adjusting keys 2, 3 and copying of one sheet is executed by the test copying mode. As a result, the actual copying density for the number of steps before and after the currently selected step is checked by one time of the test copying. |
