PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize the quantity of detection light regardless of the scanning position of an optical head in an optical head scanning type image data reading apparatus. SOLUTION: In an image data reading apparatus wherein a sample 10 is irradiated with laser beam L by an optical head 50 and the fluorescence K emitted from the sample 10 is guided to a PMT 40, the beam of the fluoroscence K advancing while expanding is refracted by the refracting power of the condensing lens 90 arranged on the light path from the optical head 50 to the PMT 40 so that the beam diameter thereof becomes small to be allowed to be incident on the PMT 40.
