The high pressure pipe connector comprises a sleeve (3) with internally threaded sockets (2, 2a) at each end. Male connectors (1, 1a) on the pipe ends have an external thread allowing them to be fixed into the two ends of the sleeve. In this position noses (7, 7a) on each male connector lodge against shoulders on the ends of a central projection (8) which are formed by a sloping and a vertical section. The angle (B) of the sloping section to the axis of the sleeve is 5 - 25 deg . The thickness of the central section (Th), measured from the outside to the point where the sloping section begins, and the thickness of the nose (Tn), measured vertically from its end point on the outside of the connector to the point where the level of its inner end point intersects with this, are related by the equation: Th/Tn = 1.1 - 1.4.
