PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute division processing without requiring much coefficient data. SOLUTION: A zero division protection circuit 2 guarantees that a divisor (b) is a non-zero numeral and a sum-of-products circuit 3 receives the absolute values A, B of a divident (a) and the divisor (b) found by absolute value circuits 1a, 1b, calculates A÷(-1)×B (sum-of-products operation) at the first time, calculates X+(-1)×B from the result X of the preceding sum-of-products operation at the 2nd time or after and judges whether the sum-of-products operation result is <0 or not in each operation. When the result is <0, the circuit 3 updates the value of a counter circuit 8, and when the result is not <0, finds out the absolute value of a quotient without updating the value of the circuit 8. |
