<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise a compressibility in loss-less compression. SOLUTION: Inputting a digital picture signal, a pixel correlation evaluating means 110 calculates the individual pixel correlation of referable pixel, existing in the periphery of an objective pixel to evaluate pixel correlation. An optimal value calculating means 120 selects a set, maximizing correlation based on the evaluation of thetas pixel correlation to calculates an optimal adaptive processing coefficient. A DPCM encoding means 130 calculates the difference between the calculated optimal adaptive processing coefficient and a predictive objective pixel to generate a DPCM encoding picture signal, based on a difference value. An entropy encoding means 200 entropy-encodes this DPCM encoding image signal to output as a compressed picture signal.</p> |
