PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of improving detecting accuracy on the floating state of a thermistor regardless of the condition of a fixing device at the time of starting fixing control and reducing danger that an engine main body is broken by the floating of the thermistor. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a fixing temperature detection means 209 detecting the surface temperature of the fixing device 200 by bringing thermistors 201 and 202 into contact with the surface of the fixing device 200, and a thermistor floating detection means detecting a thermistor floating state that the thermistors 201 and 202 are not brought into contact with the surface of the fixing device 200 at the time of starting the fixing control for the fixing device 200. The thermistor floating detection means sets plural stages of target temperature in a period that the surface temperature of the fixing device 200 reaches standby temperature at the time of starting the fixing control for the fixing device 200. When the surface temperature of the fixing device 200 shown by the thermistors 201 and 202 does not reach the target temperature withirt a prescribed time taken till reaching the target temperature, it is judged as the floating of the thermistor.
