PURPOSE: A control device for saving power of a VCR capable of receiving a satellite broadcasting is provided to intercept power of a satellite broadcasting tuner when only a normal broadcasting is set, and to intercept power of a normal tuner when only a satellite broadcasting is set, then to apply power to both of the satellite broadcasting tuner and the normal tuner when a modulation reserved recording is set, so as to control applied power according to a set mode. CONSTITUTION: A micro computer(2) outputs a control signal for deciding an output of a function selector(1). A switching controller(3) outputs a switching signal according to the control signal. The first tuner(4) receives a normal broadcasting to detect the normal broadcasting. The second tuner(5) receives a satellite broadcasting to detect the satellite broadcasting. The first and the second switches(SW1, SW2) select one of outputs of the first and the second tuners(4, 5) according to the first and the second switching signals of the switching controller(3). The third switch(SW3) selects one of outputs of the first and the second switches(SW1, SW2) according to the third switching signal, and outputs the selected output on a monitor. A recorder(6) converts an output of the first switch(SW1) into a recording format, and outputs the format on a recording head(7). The fourth and the fifth switches(SW4, SW5) apply power to the first and the second tuners(4, 5) according to the fourth and the fifth switching signals.
