<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the crack of a buffer, and to improve the cut off property and the capability of confinement of a nuclide by adding microbe consuming hydrogen near a disposal container in the buffer inserted for separating a container accommodation hole formed in rock ground in the earth from a radioactive waste disposal container. SOLUTION: Microbes 27 consuming hydrogen 20 are added near a disposal container 14 of a buffer 17 that is inserted for separation of a container-accommodation hole 6 formed in rock ground 2 from the metallic radioactive waste disposal container 14 made of stainless steel, copper, or the like, comprising bentonite as a main constituent to prevent the pressure rising near the metallic container 14. The microbe consuming hydrogen is added to the buffer, thus the hydrogen gas generated from the metal reduction corrosion of the disposal container by the activity of the microbe. The consumed hydrogen gas becomes a water-soluble substance such as hydrogen ion, an acetic acid group, and a hydrogen sulfide ion according to the kinds of the microbe, and may disappear as gas. Although a nitrogen gas and a methane gas are sometimes generated instead of hydrogen gas, the volume of the generated gas is 1/4 to 1/5.</p> |
