PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large-sized liquid crystal display device which in high in impact resistance and safely in practicability and has excellent luminance, high color displayability and display stability. SOLUTION: The thickness or strength per unit of a glass substrate 1 on display side of the liquid crystal device constituted by using a TFT array substrate 10 formed with a plurality of TFTs on the surface of the first glass substrate 1 and a color filter substrate 20 formed with a plurality of color filters an counter electrodes on the front surface of the second glass substrate 11 and injecting liquid crystals through a liquid crystal oriented film into a cell combined with the TFTs and the counter electrodes so as to face each other is made greater than the thickness or strength per unit of the glass substrate 11 on the opposite side.
