PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the influence of the shearing force of a resin on optical fibers on the outermost side and to obviate the generation of a skew by hermetically coating an optical fiber ribbon formed as multiple fibers by an edge bond type coating with an outer layer. SOLUTION: For example, the optical fibers f of a fiber diameter of 250μm are transversely lined up to one row and are subjected to an edge bond type coating to form the 12-coated fiber ribbon T1 and in succession, the 12-coated fiber ribbon T1 of the edge bond type is coated with the outer layer of 0.07 mm in thickness to form the optical fiber ribbon T2 of a hermetic structure. A coating stage (UV resin coating and a curing treatment by irradiation with UV rays) of a first step for inner layer coating and a coating stage (UV resin coating and a curing treatment by irradiation with UV rays) of a second step for outer layer coating are executed by a tandem coating device, thereby, the working efficiency thereof is made identical from that of the conventional stages. This optical fiber ribbon has a low-skew characteristics and since the coating by the outer layer is the hermetic structure, the optical fiber ribbon exhibits good mechanical characteristic similar to those of the conventional optical fiber ribbon.
