PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparative liquid chromatograph which can detect sample components with a high sensitivity and surely dispense a sample. SOLUTION: A sample is preparatorily separated. Absorbance data at absorption wavelengths of 210 nm, 230 nm and 280 nm are acquired as shown in (A). A wavelength selection program is formed on the basis of the absorbance data so as to select an absorbance signal of the absorption wavelength fit to detect each of sample components in a time while the component reaches a detector 9. When the sample is introduced to a separation column and separated so as to dispense the sample, a PC 13 controls a fraction collector 11 as shown in (B) in accordance with the absorbance signal at the 230 nm when a passed time after the sample is injected is 0-5 minutes, at the 280 nm when the time is 5-10 minutes and at the 210 nm when the time is 10-20 minutes.
