PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an apparent dynamic range by giving a scanning pulse having polar turn-off shift to a thin film transistor device after a capacitor is previously charged. SOLUTION: A column bus is selectively connected to variable voltage power precharge by a switch S1 and is selectively connected to a charge sensing amplifier. While a capacitor is previously charged, the switch S1 is closed, a switch S2 is opened and selected transistors are turned off at every line or are simultaneously turned on. Whole arrays are sequentially scanned during a precharge cycle and then the whole arrays are sequentially scanned for reading. The rows of the capacitors are previously charged and are sensed. During signal reading, the switch S1 is closed and the switch S2 is closed. The switch S2 is opened or closed while respective rows are sensed at the modes of precharge or sensing.
