PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress overshooting as much as possible for appropriately carrying out driving control by transmitting the data of a specific, selected motor drive curve to a driving means for providing a variable means for varying the drive table of a stepping motor. SOLUTION: When printing is started, the remaining amount of ink is detected, and the presence or absence of the remaining amount of ink and the mass of a carriage are judged simultaneously (S2). Then, whether an ideal nonlinear-type pulse width for the mass of the judged current carriage has been is judged (S3). When the ideal pulse width has been set, printing operation continues as it is (S4), otherwise the ideal nonlinear-type pulse width is set (S5), and then the printing operation is made. More specifically, the nonlinear- type pulse is varied for controlling according to change in the remaining amount of ink (mass change), thus appropriately carrying out drive control. In this case, a curve for indicating the relationship between the remaining amount of ink and the nonlinear-type pulse width is stored into a record medium in advance for setting and modifying, as needed. |
