PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make standard or double and triple special reproducings performable by recording video signals by a pair of head pairs D of a head group A having head widths that are wider than the track pitch of a recording in a long duration recording mode, recording FM audio signals by a head pairs B having specific head widths and reproducing video signals, which are recorded in a long duration recording mode, by head pairs C in a dedicated manner. SOLUTION: The device has the head group A that is more than one set of head pairs for mainly recording and reproducing video signals and special reproducing and head pairs B that mainly record and reproduce audio signals corresponding to double or triple long duration recordable recording mode to a standard recording mode. Moreover, head pairs C are provided to reproduce video signals in a more than five fold long duration recording mode. The head pairs B have a head width Twb in which 2×Px<Twb<3×Px is satisfied for track pitch Px in a more than five fold long duration recording mode. Furthermore, the center of the head width of the head pairs C is set so that the center does not simultaneously trace prescribed two places during a reproducing in a more than five fold long duration recording mode.
