PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an abnormality detector efficiently and correctly detectable the occurrence of an abnormality by providing a display/abnormality detection switching means which gives an image signal from one or plural image pickup means among plural image pickup means to a display means and gives an image signal from the residual image pickup means to processing means. SOLUTION: An image signal from one or plural television cameras C1 among plural (j) visible region light television cameras (television camera, hereafter) C is given to monitor 7 via a switching means DR1 in order to switch display/ abnormality detection. An operator can observe an image at a place to be monitored, which is picked up by the television camera C1. Then, the image signal from the residual one or plural television cameras C2 to Cj is selectively given to a processing means 5 from the signal processing circuit 4 of a central control room 3 for display and abnormality detection by switching means DR2 to DRj. The means DR2 to DRj selects on image signal among the television cameral C2 to Cj to transmits it from a television controller 2 to the circuit 4.
