PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To complete printing as user's requests even if trouble occurs by placing a recovery printing notification means in operation when there are undischarged sheets of paper in case of a fault occurring to an output device during the printing and the output device becomes ready for the printing after the trouble is removed. SOLUTION: The printer controller 1 checks whether or not there are sheets of paper as a candidate for recovery printing among pages having had image data transferred to an output device 5 by an output controller 4 and the pages left in print data storage devices 3. After the output device 5 having the trouble removed becomes ready for the printing again, the printer controller 2 stops the printing until a recovery printing notification means 9 gives notice of a state wherein the recovery printing is possible to the outside. Once recovery printing execution is selected, the data are sent from the print data storage devices 3 to the controller 4 and the output controller 4 outputs the expanded image data to the output device 5, so that the recovery printing is carried out.
