Hide having different colored sides, useful for production of reversible leather articles, obtained by two-stage superficial vat dyeing in light and dark colors at basic and acidic pH

Production of hides having the hair side and the flesh side of different colors, with both sides protected and having a hair side-like appearance, involves vat dyeing the hides in a light color by immersion in a dye-bath of basic pH then vat dyeing in a dark color by immersion in a dye-bath of acidic pH, in such a way that the two sides are dyed superficially.
