PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make easily accessible the contents of a storage of an open system by accessing a storage such as a fiber channel and converting the format of input/output data of the storage. SOLUTION: A host I/F 2 analyzes a read-in command from a host computer and when an object volume is a fiber channel disk drive 18, this command is sent to a fiber channel I/F 22, converted into a command in FBA format representation, and sent to the disk drive 18. The disk drive 18 interprets the command and reads the contents of a specified block out and return data are converted by the I/F 22 to a CKD format and sent back to a computer 1 through an I/F 2. At this time, when the constitution of the disk drive 18 is altered, its alteration information is received by a magnetic tape drive 14 from the host computer 17 through a network and the host computer 1 and then backed up. |
