DATA REPRODUCING DEVICE AND DATA REPRODUCING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a data reproducing device that can conduct efficient search reproduction. SOLUTION: A video server system consists of a storage medium storing MPEG data, a reproduction section, a decoding section and a controller. The storage medium stores video data where a reproduction sequence of GOP for normal reproduction proceeds as A+0, A+1, A+2, A+3, A+4, A+5, A+6 ...A+x. Six GOPs reproduced within 1 cycle (1.5) are intermittently selected in response to a search speed from the video data above. The reproduction section segments r-bytes from the 6 GOPs with different data sizes from their heads, and reproduces and transfers them to the decoding section. The decoding section decodes only an I picture at the head of the transferred GOP.
