The tumbler lock comprises a rotor (2) turning in a bore of a stator (1). The rotor comprises a longitudinal slot provided with an entrance (2a) for a notched key with an axial peg. The lock has a toothed wheel (4) mounted on the rotor around the key entrance which rotates with the rotor. The toothed wheel has several holes (5,5a) defining a passage and a stop for the key axial peg. Only one of the holes has a depth sufficient to allow the engagement and abutment of the key relative to the tumblers.
