摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a roller from coming off from a disc so as to enhance the reliability of a system. SOLUTION: A towing force is transmitted through a roller 9 spanning a toroidal gap defined between an input disc and an output disc. A force is applied from a hydraulic cylinder 17 to the roller 9 through a carriage 11 which rotatably supports the roller 9, and this force is balanced with a torque transmission reaction force exerted to the roller 9. The angle over which the carriage 11 rotates around the axis 53 of a second part 16, is limited within a predetermined range required for a speed change, by means of a rotation checking mechanism A having a shaft 50 formed on the second part 16 and a slit 52 in which the shaft 50 is fitted with a play. The slit 52 is formed in an extension 51 of an inner cylinder casing 27 which is rotationally limited within the hydraulic cylinder 27.
