PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide mobile communications equipment, where power consumption by a backlight is decreased to enhance service life of its battery. SOLUTION: The mobile communications equipment provided with a backlight 31 is provided with a control means 1 that generates a control signal to instruct lighting/extinguishing of the backlight, a drive signal generating means 4 that generates an intermission operation periodic signal, and backlight derive means 21, 51 that drive lighting of the backlight, and the backlight drive means intermittently drive the lighting of the backlight, on the basis of the intermittent operation periodic signal for a period, when the lighting is instructed by the control signal. The intermittent lighting of the backlight reduces the power consumption. Furthermore, the degree of power saving can be changed by changing a ratio of the operating period to the inoperative period of the intermitting periodic signal, so as to change luminance at the lighting of the backlight.
