PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a network scanner which nearly eliminates the need for key operation at image input and can successively read in pieces of image information having various addresses, user names of destination and read conditions. SOLUTION: The network scanner, which stores read image information while relating it to personal information and is connected to a network, is equipped with an image reader 11 which reads image informaiton out of a document and a character recognition part 13, which performs character processing for the read-in image information of a prescribed page, and a system control part 12 extracts destination personal informaiton, read condition informaiton, and image file format information from characters recognized by the character recognition part 13, instructs the image reader 11 to read image informaiton of the page following the prescribed page under the extracted read conditions, and stores the read image information in the extracted image file format, while relating it to the extracted destination personal information.
