ORGANIC EL ELEMENT AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element and its manufacture capable of reducing the poor effect of an external light on display performance due to its reflection in a simple structure. SOLUTION: An organic EL element comprises a film substrate 1 formed with an organic EL coating 2 and a sealing member 4 bonded to the film substrate 1 for sealing the organic EL coating 2. A linear polarizing plate 3 is provided on the counter side of the organic EL coating of the film substrate 1 and the film substrate 1 also serves as a 1/4 wavelength plate. The film substrate 1 is formed of a uniaxial oriented resin film and an angle formed between the polarization axis of the linear polarizing plate 3 and the polarization axis of the resin film is preferably within±35 to 55. The film substrate 1 is favorably manufactured by winding the resin film and orienting it at angles of±40 to 50 to the winding direction.
