PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a power supply unit for electric vehicle and reduce its manufacturing cost, by using in common with each other its parts which have the same function to cut down the number of its parts. SOLUTION: A power supply unit 40 for electric vehicles comprises a transformer 41, an inputting rectifier 53 for rectifying the AC voltage fed from an AC power supply 31, a first outputting rectifier 61 for charging a high-voltage battery 32 by rectifying the AC voltage fed from a high-voltage side secondary coil 41b, a second outputting rectifier 71 for charging a low-voltage battery 33 by rectifying the AC voltage fed from a low-voltage side secondary coil 41c, and a switching circuit 56 for on/off-switching every a predetermined short time the DC voltage inputted to a primary coil 41a via a changeover relay 54. In the power supply unit 40, the changeover relay 54 is changed over such that the inputting rectifier 53 is connected with the primary coil 41a when charging the high-voltage battery 32, and that of the high-voltage battery 32 is connected with the primary coil 41a, when charging the low-voltage battery 33.
