PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract an edge from an input image including many noise components with high accuracy. SOLUTION: An initial edge parameter arithmetic circuit 1 operates initial edge parameters qh and qv from inputted image data on the basis of the rule of a prescribed subtraction direction. A fuzzy parameter arithmetic circuit 2 operates 1st input parameters i1+, i2+, i3+ and 2nd input parameters i1-, i2- and i3- on the basis of the initial edge parameters and operates input parameters i1, i2 and i3 for a fuzzy operation on the basis of them. A fuzzy arithmetic circuit 53 performs a fuzzy operation on the basis of the parameters i1, i2 and i3 and outputs last edge parameters Q (i and j). |
