PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically give an identification number to each function module of an electronic equipment consisting of the function modules and to simply and surely set the identification number. SOLUTION: A network analyzer 1 has a function for an overall state supervision or the like of a network and consists of connection of a control module 10 to a plurality of function modules. Then the control module 10 generates a number '0' and outputs it to an adjacent function module. A function module recognizes the received number as its own address number for the identification of itself from other function modules and outputs a number resulting from adding '1' to its own address number to a function module of a post-stage. The network analyzer 1 automatically sets consecutive address numbers started from '0' to each function module for the identification of each function module according to the functions above.
