摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To erase a phosphor screen by activating with divalent europium, exciting a cesium halide phosphor screen to detect light emitted from the screen, and exposing the phosphor screen to light for erasure emitted from at least one laser. SOLUTION: A read unit has a HeNe laser that particularly emits light with 633 mm by a light source 5 for excitation. In the unit, a vibration mirror for deflecting light emitted from a laser source for excitation in a scan direction is provided on a phosphorescence screen 7 where light can be excited, and a light guide 8 for guiding the light to a photomultiphier 9 is provided. The read unit with flying-spot formation is combined with an erasure unit selectively separated from the read unit so that an interference generally does not occur between read and erasure. The read and erasure can be simultaneously or alternately performed, and the erasure is started after the read of the screen is completed. In the photostimulable phosphor screen the line of a read image is erased which is sent through a read unit to the erasure unit, and has been read.
